Mission Statement

Great Commission Baptist Church was established for the following purpose:

“To bring people to salvation in Christ and membership in the family of God, to develop them into Christ-like maturity, and to equip them for ministry in the church and in the world, in order to magnify and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Church Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Holy Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of its ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations; to honor, esteem, and love our pastor and leadership of the church; to pray for them fervently and daily; to submit to them in the exercise of their offices; and to manifest a tender regard for their reputation.

We also engage to maintain secret and family devotions; to bring up our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all gossip, tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from all worldly and harmful indulgences; to oppose all conduct that compromises our Christian testimony and uphold high standards of Christian morality; and to be zealous in our service for the Lord.

We further engage to walk together in Christian charity; to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling, and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense but always ready for reconciliation; and to be mindful of the command of our Savior to secure it without delay.

We further engage that when we remove from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other Baptist church of like faith and order, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

Church History

Great commission Baptist church of Blair Nebraska was started by Andrew Schank alongside his family on January 19 2011.

The first service was held at the Blair Y.M.C.A. There were nine people in attendance, at that first service.

After moving to several rental locations, Great Commission Baptist Church was officially organized February 9, 2014 with the help of Pastor Roger Luiken of Liberty Baptist Church in Fremont Nebraska.

Even though the journey has not always been easy, God has continued to be faithful as He promised. The church was able to buy its own property in the summer of 2021 and has continued to move forward under the leadership of Pastor Holder and his family.

Please continue to pray for G.C.B.C. as we continue to endeavor to live up to our name.
